Eric Grigsby, MD

Dr. Grigsby enjoys a national reputation for excellence in the field of Pain Management. With a background as a researcher, teacher, and clinician, he brings an unusual complement of skills to his medical practice. Dr. Grigsby taught at the Mayo Medical School and was a Mayo Clinic staff member. He also was the Founder and Director of Pain Management Services at UC Davis Medical Center. In 1992, Dr. Grigsby established his private Pain Management in Napa. Today, he and his staff of over 20 professionals consult with patients from throughout Northern California. Dr. Grigsby also trains and mentors other physicians nationally in the area of Pain Management.

Dr. Grigsby attended elementary and secondary school in his hometown of Knoxville, Tennessee and attended Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island where he received his Bachelors Degree in Biology and Economics.

Dr. Grigsby formed his interest in Medicine as a career while working at Boston Children’s Hospital in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery. He worked with children with severe spinal deformities, cerebral palsy, and other disabling orthopedic conditions. Impressed with the orthopedic advances, he was distressed at the persistent pain and suffering apparent in these young patients.

After graduating from Boston University Medical School in 1984, Dr. Grigsby trained in Anesthesiology and Pain Management at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. After 5 years of post-graduate training, he was invited to join the Medical Staff and teach at the Mayo Medical School until moving to California.

Currently, Dr. Grigsby and his staff enjoy a national reputation for excellence in the field of Pain Management. He speaks nationally on topics such as non-operative treatment of spinal disorders, the use of medications for treatment of pain, and the legal and regulatory issues relating to proper treatment of patients. Dr. Grigsby and his staff are most proud of their caring and compassionate approach to treating chronic pain.
