Clinical Studies to Improve Your Care

In an effort to advance the field of Pain Management, Napa Pain Institute is involved in clinical research studies. Dr. Grigsby participates in and offers clinical studies to his patients with chronic pain. Involvement in a clinical study is completely voluntary on the part of our patients.

Dr. Grigsby is Principal Investigator for the following clinical studies:

  • A post-market, single-center, randomized, double-blind, cross-over, prospective clinical study of the mildĀ® procedure vs. sham in subjects with painful lumbar spinal stenosis. The objectives of this study are to assess the procedure feasibility, safety and functional outcomes in symptomatic subjects.
  • A multi-center, open label, prospective clinical study to assess the clinical application and functional outcomes of symptomatic patients undergoing the Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression (mildĀ®) treatment for lumbar spinal stenosis.
  • A prospective, multi-center, open label, non-significant risk feasibility study focused on Spinal Cord Stimulation (SCS) implant candidates for the treatment of chronic low back pain. The objective is to evaluate if physical activity and posture parameters can be used as an objective measure of SCS therapy.

Dr. Grigsby is a co-investigator on the following clinical studies:

  • Implantable System Performance Registry (ISPR): A clinical registry that monitors the use and performance of the Medtronic Inc. implantable pain relieving devices.
  • A 12-week multicenter randomized, double-blind, controlled evaluation of the efficacy, safety and tolerability of NGX-1998 for the treatment of postherpetic neuralgia (PHN).
